Translation is the highest outcome of mortality

"Since it is our privilege to seek, and eventually obtain, a translated Zion stature, let us clearly define what translation is. Translation defines a state of purity and obedience which brings about an altered mortal state that rises above the physical limitations of mortality. In other words, a translated person is still mortal but is not subject to mortal frailty such as sickness, injury, death, or even sadness.

The Scriptures inform us that eternal life is the highest outcome of our mortal experience after we depart this world, spend time in the spirit world, are resurrected, enjoy the millennium, and finally participate in the judgment and are assigned to a kingdom.

The scriptures also quite plainly teach that translation is the highest outcome of mortality — while yet a mortal. There is no greater blessing and no greater privilege a mortal may obtain than to be translated. This truth was echoed when the Nephi three requested this or per the live gift, and the Lord replied 'wherefore more blessed are ye' (see 3 Nephi 28:7)."
